Introducing the blog

Hi, I’m Bea, the School Manager for Mathematics and a Project Manager working on the new building for two academic Schools at Cardiff University- Computer Science and Informatics and Mathematics.

This blog is so that you, our current and potential students, staff, alumni and collaborators across the world can see what is going on with our project. Hopefully this feels a bit more open, informal and chatty than a website or newsletter and will give you an insight into some of the spaces we are designing.

I have worked for Cardiff University for 15 years- I have done a variety of jobs across different academic Schools in that time. This job is probably the most challenging I have had because I didn’t know anything about construction- fortunately I’m managing the part of the project leading engagement with building users and coordinating the move and not the technical stuff!

There are staff from both Schools, our Estates department, project management office, finance and IT who are all critical to this building being on time, on budget and making sure we give our staff, students and industrial partners a great facility.

Buildings are all about the people who will use them, so hopefully it’s the start of an exciting new chapter in the history of these disciplines in Cardiff.
